Just a quick "Hello to All." I'm looking forward to meeting up and learning some more info. Just when you think you have them figured out, you realize that you can quickly be humbled.

Hi Buds, my name is Rob. I am 59 and I grew up in South Buffalo and went to Burgard and Buffalo State. I moved to Maryland in 1975 because there was no work for me in WNY Im a retired vocational school teacher and I love to hunt. We have great deer and waterfowl hunting in Maryland but no wood chucks or coyotes. I would love to come back to the Buffalo/ Southern Tier area next summenr for a varmit hunt. I have a classic 22 hornet and a Remington 700 in 223. Maybe we could trade a varmit hunt for some fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. I grew up hunting deer near Olean and Angelica. When I was in my teens we used to road hunt chucks near Springville. I killed 200 one summer. Back then the people welcomed varmit hunters there were lots of open land that was not posted. I dont know what its like now. My Maternal Grandparents are from Silver Creek in Chataqua county. And Cherry Creek on my Dads Side. Im going on a bear hunt in New Brunswick Canada in May. I have a deer lease in Maryland and killed a nice 5 point buck last fall. I would like get together with someone for a varmit hunt in next summer. Lets trade hunts or a fishing trip.

Do people still road hunt for Varmits in WNY? I grew up there and killed 200 chucks one summer around Springville. I had a summer off from college and spent all my time plinking varmits! In Maryland disabled people who have trouble walking can get a hunt from a vehicle permit. :
Rob - Burgard Vovational ( 1970) Hilbert College and Buffalo State. Now living in Maryland. I love to varmit hunt . Lets get together.

Rob, I'm from South Buffalo and about the same age. We may even know each other. I spent quite a bit of time hunting chucks and selling them to Zeldner's Wild Game food store. It was next to Bocce's Pizza. I got $1.25 for each one and it paid for gas, shells, beer and I still made money.
Sad to say, but there's not as much open land as the old days. PM me and I'll see if I can help you out next summer. Jim

Well, I been poaching information from your site for a fair piece and passing it along to the boys ever since a yote family homesteaded a stones throw from the chicken coop. Thought it's about time I did the honorable thing and joined up. Lookin forward to more of you alls good ideas.
