From member ishchua....
The first step is to hang the animal by a rope from ONE hind foot from something very sturdy.
Then with a good sharp knife cut around both hind legs as close to the feet as possible.
Now cut from the slit in the legs strait down to his butt hole.Start working the hide around the legs working from his feet to his rump. When you get down to his tail, work around the tail and toward its tip.Once you get about half way down the tail you can use a tail stripper to slide the hide down over the tailbone. You can buy a Tail stripper or use a old clothes pin or even a couple small pcs of wood. With the tail free you are now ready to start working the hide down the body. This can be done by a combination of cutting and pulling. Before you reach the front legs, cut around them as close to the feet as possible. Now keep working down and around the front legs and pull the feet through the hide, which should leave the leg hide with 2 little holes.Keep working towards the head but when you get to the neck area you will see large veins running along the side of the neck.Try to avoid cutting these or they will usually bleed heavily.Keep moving down until you get to where you see his ears.Cut them where you first see them as close to the skull as you can.Now you have to work down to his eyes and when you get there stay as close to the skull as possible too working the hide over his eyes. From here down just stay as close to the scull as you can and you will get his whiskers lips and finally his nose.
Now turn the hide fur side out, wipe it as dry as you can if it is wet.Brush any burrs out that are in it.
Once the hide is dry and clean you can try splitting the tail down a little farther. Then either put your hide on a stretcher or roll it up fur side out and freeze it in a plastic bag.Remember if stretching Fox and Coyotes, put them on a stretcher fur side in for 1-2 days, then take them off and turn them fur side out and put them back on.Be real careful when turning the front legs because they will tear where the legs meet the body.Brush them lightly and you are good to go.
