INTRODUCTION
In 2003, The Bark At The Moon Coyote Club hosted the first Western New York State Predator Hunt as a way to draw area hunters together and celebrate their hobby and passion. The contest has rapidly grown and the contest organizers are thrilled with the support they are receiving from area hunters and sponsors, both local and national. In 2012, the hunt was re-named "Foxpro's New York State Predator Hunt."
In 2019, the contest has taken another turn by being held in March. This means that it is a coyote only contest!
THE CONTEST DETAILS
CONTEST PHILOSOPHY:
The idea behind the hunt is to have a weekend event full of predator calling action. From the organizer's standpoint, the focus of the event is to provide a friendly predator hunting event for hunters of all experience and skill levels.
WHEN:
The 2019 contest dates are March 1,2 & 3. Contest starts at Dusk on Friday night. All hunters must be registered before the event starts. Entry form w/ payment (Check w/ phone number, MO or cash) must be received on or prior to Wednesday, February 27, 2019. See entry form link for details on where to send entry form & payment.
WHO:
Any hunter who possesses a NYS hunting license can join the contest.
The 2019 contest will be limited to 100 teams. Enter early to ensure your participation!!
one-man team or two-man team = $ 50.00
Big Dog Bounty = $ 5.00 extra PER TEAM. Total purse goes to the single heaviest coyote.
You are signing up as a one or two-man calling team and must hunt as one team. It is against contest rules to combine team efforts. This is a coyote calling contest. No dog running teams or animals taken by use of dogs are allowed in contest.
WHERE:
Hunters can hunt anywhere in New York State. We do not provide areas to hunt, that is up to the hunters.
HOW:
All hunters must abide by NYS game laws. Hunters must present their game at time of check-in ( 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM)
Only animals taken during contest hours are eligible.
All predators must have a block, which is a ping pong ball, in the predator's mouth. The predator's mouth must be closed with a zip tie.
The code will be revealed at 4:00 PM on Friday. The code will be posted on this website and on Facebook on the Bark at the Moon Coyote Club Facebook page as well as on Andrew Lewand's Facebook page. The code must face the back of the predator's throat and additional information (team number) must be visible from either side.
It is each hunter's responsibility to acquire the code through these media outlets.
Animals without proper blocks and code will not be eligible.
No trapped animals allowed.
No dog running groups. This is a calling contest.
Each team has to kill their own reported predators. No pooling of animals between groups is allowed.
No roadkill animals allowed.
Only bring coyotes to check-in.
No freezer frozen animals allowed.
Each animal may be biologically examined.
Winners will be awarded Cash for the ten (10) top finishers. ** This number may be adjusted depending upon the actual number of participants. The actual payout number will be announced on Thursday. February 28th.
Winners will be determined using a point system...
Coyote = ten (10) points
In the case of a tie, total weight will determine the winner.
Other prizes will be raffled at check-in party. You must be in attendance to win raffle prizes. Plan on attending!
CHECK IN:
There is only one check-in and that is on Sunday March 3rd at 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The check-in location is at Fandango's Bar & Grill (24 Maple Ave, Bloomfield, NY 14469)
After the check-in, we will have a social gathering. Prizes will be awarded and door prizes will be drawn. This promises to be a great time. Food and drink will be available. Meet area hunters and have a good time! Don't miss out!
If you are late for the check-in, you will be docked 5 points for every minute that you are late after 2:00 PM
EACH HUNTER MUST TAKE HIS/HER ANIMALS OFF THE PREMISES AFTER CHECK-IN!

. I can see why Andrew was asking early in the season about continuing. Everyone have a great off season ! Congrats to all the successful hunters this 2023-24 season
