Hey all - on the Delaware County/Schoharie border. A duck hunter by preference but a move to NY here turned me into a predator hunter. Started off probably like everyone else - waving my gun around with a red light and using cassette tapes with an old electronic caller and hand calls. Graduated to scanning lights ie. lightforce 180, to sniperhawg lights, to NV gen 1, to what I use now ...xq23v thermal scanning monocular and a photon xt 4.5 with sniperhawg IR scope light. I also use a foxpro fx3 and hand calls as well as primos tri pod shooting sticks. Since I hunt alone I'm betting more predators see me before I see them because of all the movement of scanning, calling, controlling the gun, getting on target, flipping on light, etc. So I have (over the years) tried to limit my movements by getting smarter and trying to get equipment that would help me limit movement while I hunt alone. The shooting stix help alot at night as I can rest my gun on it limiting movement. The thermal let's me scan with no visible light and minimal movement. The NV scope on the gun only exposes me for a short period of time to ID and shoot (when opportunity affords). Altho hunting alone has some disadvantages it also has some advantages such as a stealthier approach. nice to meet you all.
