I'm Michael and I also hunt in Eastern Washington. badmedicine243 and I have hunted together many times this year. There are lots of coyotes this year, I currently have 13, and this is my first year, I can't imagine what someone with a little experience could do.

New member in the Buffalo, NY area. Mostly hunt ducks, deer, some pheasant.
My 12 YO son got his license this year, and loves squirrel hunting. Really enjoys being out in the woods, and recognizes it is about the hunt, not necessarily the kill.
Decided to give predator hunting a try (his idea). Starting on the cheap (cheap e-call, mouse squeeker, couple of lights from Dicks) to see if this is something we want to do before we invest any real money. Also hung a piece of squirrel tail from a stick and let it move in the breeze.
Went out Saturday night, no idea what we were doing, but had a great time.
My son got a kick out of watching a 'possum walk across the field, saw a weasel hunting near a marsh, and listened to the owls. Heard some coyotes at a distance. Stayed out about 2 1/2 hours. Didn't see any fox or coyotes, but had a great time. Good father/son time. I expect we'll be out again soon. He wants to try 'coon hunting as well. May even sign up for the WNY predator hunt.
Couple of questions: * Any suggestions on where to hunt in our area would be appreciated, * calls (cheap) to try etc. * 'coon hunting suggestions welcome
Regards to all, Dave

JD,
Thanks..
Actually with the lights we colored the lenses with a red sharpie, seems to work well. Didn't pay much for them, and they lasted about an hour each before the battery ran out, so worked OK.
For guns we took out a 12 gauge with #4's and also a .22 mag. I shoot with this gun a lot and feel confident to about 75 yards for something like a fox or coon size critter (longer on targets, but would limit myself to 75 yds or less). After deer season maybe I'll take out a centerfire.
I know distances can be deceiving in the field, especially at night, so I went out to the fields a day in advance, paced off about 60 yards and stood a few branches, tall weeds etc up as distance markers (sort of the same thing I do when duck hunting, with a couple marker decoys at my outside range).
Thanks again for the call suggestion.
Dave
